Counting Coins for Haiti

Students and staff of Pobalscoil Iololde, Palmerstown, were so moved by the tragedy unfolding before their eyes in Haiti, that they immediately decided to organize fund raising events to help the victims.  They scoured sofas, shelves, bedrooms, bags, etc searching for small change, foreign coins, old pennies, etc.  A Non Uniform Day raised approximately €1.000 euro. Generous donations from parents added to the swelling coffers. A staff coffee morning brought the total to €2,000 euro.

Meantime transition year students continued counting and bagging the coins.  It is hoped that the school will meet its target, €2,500 euro. The money is going to the Goal Haiti Earthquake Appeal to help alleviate the horrific suffering of those involved in the earthquake.  Goal will continue to distribute food and non food items to the inhabitants of Port-au-Prince.
